To the Moon and Snack
To the Moon and Snack
A holistic approach to developing a creative vegan food business
To the Moon and Snack was a food project based in Brighton, UK, whose mission was to spread love and kindness through delicious, hand-crafted vegan food. The project brought together passionate chefs, storytellers, and artists, including Studio Lungta’s Amy Hiller and Tom Skelton, and pastry chef Chiara Saitta, who combined their skills and shared intentions to offer the local community something both meaningful and delicious.
Responding to a lack of high-quality, health-conscious vegan offerings in an area often dominated by vegan junk food, the project focused on extensive creative recipe development of familiar favourites such as scotch eggs, eclairs, croissants, and whole-food meat substitutes.
All of To the Moon and Snack’s offerings were presented within a cohesive and thoughtfully crafted brand identity, supported by distinctive packaging and a joyful visual language.
In-depth research was undertaken to source local, organic ingredients, build relationships with neighbouring initiatives, and select responsible packaging. The food was shared experientially through events and carefully curated experiences such as unique afternoon teas and weekly picnic boxes.
Great care was taken in telling the story of To the Moon and Snack. The core message — that vegan food is for everyone, and that a compassionate plate can be both beautiful and delicious — was communicated through stylized photography, intentional graphic design, a vibrant website, and a playfully themed social media presence.
Visioneering
The vision for this project was to offer culinary experiences that wove together innovative recipes with comfort and nostalgia, demonstrating that vegan food can be innovative, joyful, nourishing, and comforting, whilst also considering its wider environmental impact.
The driving force behind this vision was deeply personal for the chefs: a commitment to animal welfare, a sense of environmental responsibility, a passion for nourishing whole foods, and a love of creating food that is both delicious and beautiful. This was expressed through playful, clean, and conversational branding that felt inclusive and inviting, capturing both the beauty and joy of vegan cuisine.
